Bulgaria: Tree Nuts Annual

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

Bulgaria is a growth market for U.S. tree nuts. Opportunities for almond, walnut and pecan exports are driven by modern retail’s deep footprint, rising incomes, evolving consumer preferences, an expanding food-processing industry and tourism. Post expects that Bulgarian tree nut imports and consumption will rebound in marketing year (MY) 2017/18, following a drop in MY 2016/17. 2017 retail tree nut sales data (to date) shows a 3.2 percent increase over last year. Bulgaria’s retail market is fragmented with three leading companies accounting for about one-third of total market share.
