The Canadian Food Inspection Agency recently announced upcoming import condition changes for heat-treated and raw/minimally heat-treated pet food imported from the United States. On April 13, 2021, pet food imported as heat-treated, will be required to undergo temperature and time specific treatments based on the animal-origin ingredients. If these requirements are not met, the pet food must abide by the import conditions for raw/minimally heat-treated pet food. Additionally, an import permit for raw/minimally heat-treated pet food will no longer be required after April 13, 2021.
