Canada: Canada Consulting on Transfats in Canadian Food Supply

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

In the fall of 2015, the Canadian government committed to bring in tougher regulations to eliminate industrially produced transfats in processed foods. As part of this commitment, Health Canada is asking for industry stakeholders to provide data on the amounts of partially hydrogenated oils used in processed food (including imported foods), the reasons for their use, and their concentrations. This phase of the consultations opened on May 30, 2016 and will close on June 30, 2016.
