  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

The federal government announced the intention to eliminate the MFN tariffs on a long list of imported food items to be used as ingredients by domestic food manufacturing companies. Stakeholders have until June 21, 2016 to submit their comments on this proposed measure. Under NAFTA, U.S. exports of items subject to the proposed MFN tariff elimination, valued at nearly $2 billion in 2015, already benefit from duty free access into Canada.
