Canada: Health Canada Consults on Banning Partially Hydrogenated Oils in Foods

Health Canada opened consultations for comments on the proposal to ban the use of partially hydrogenated oils (industrial trans fats) in foods. Food companies will have a 12-month implementation period to make the necessary changes in food formulations and to get through the existing stocks. Comments by stakeholders are due by January 13, 2017.
