Caribbean Basin: Retail Foods

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

U.S. exports of consumer-oriented products to Trinidad and Tobago have experienced ten percent average annual growth over the past five years, reaching an all-time-high of $237.7 million in 2015. Although low energy prices have stifled growth in the country’s gas and oil based economy of late, Trinidad and Tobago remains one of the largest and most dynamic markets in the Caribbean. The country’s diverse retail sector, through which roughly 70 percent of all imported foods are channeled, continues to present market opportunities for U.S. exporters.
