In the winter of MY2020/21 rainfall was abundant, especially in the month of June and climatic conditions during the spring have been favorable, thus fruit producers are expecting higher production volumes. In MY2020/21, Post estimates that fresh apple exports will total 655,000 metric tons (MT), a 3.9 percent increase over MY2019/20. The United States remains the main market for Chilean table grape exports. Table grape exports are expected to reach 620,000 MT, a 1.6 percent increase over MY2019/20. Pear exports will decrease by 4.3 percent and total 111,000 MT due to the decline in pear planted area. Regarding COVID-19 pandemic, Chilean fruit exporters have taken necessary precautions and are expecting normal trade flows.
