China: African Swine Fever Outbreaks Continue in China

From August 3 until September 7, 2018, China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has officially reported 14 outbreaks of African Swine Fever, across six different provinces. On August 29, MARA held a press conference where it stated that additional outbreaks were likely. On September 2, MARA also announced new movement restrictions on live swine and pork products from “epidemic” provinces. MARA has not fully communicated to the international community how it is implementing the transportation bans indicated in its African Swine Fever Contingency Plan (see GAIN Report CH18050).
