China is the world’s fourth largest ethanol producer and consumer after the United States, Brazil, and the European Union. China aims to expand ethanol production through newly implemented processor subsidies and import restrictions. China also aims to reform its energy consumption profile to meet international climate change commitments and domestic air pollution targets.
