China: China Extends Tariff Exclusion on Sorbitol

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   CH2021-0058

China extended the Section 301 retaliatory tariff exclusion on sorbitol, a food additive that accounted for U.S. $1.6 million in U.S. exports to China in 2020. Sorbitol is the only agricultural-related product in a list of 79 commodities that had their Section 301 tariff exclusions extended through December 25, 2021. The exclusions were set to expire on May 18, 2021, which would have resulted in the reimposition of an additional tariff of 10 percent on sorbitol.
