China: China Notifies HPAI Outbreak in Shanxi Wild Swans

On December 4, 2020, China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) notified the U.S. Embassy in Beijing that on November 26, 2020, China had detected highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N8 subtype in two wild swans in a nature park in Shanxi Province. Shanxi province is one of the lowest poultry production provinces in China. China also notified this HPAI outbreak to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). China is continuing to monitor the situation.
