  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

On May 24, 2013, China released the National Food Safety Standard of General Hygiene Regulations for Food Production (GB14881-2013), which became effective on June 1, 2014. This standard stipulates the basic requirements and management principles for venue, facilities and workers involved in food production; it covers raw material procurement, production, packaging, storage and transportation. This standard is final and applies to the production of foods of all kinds. This standard can also serve as a reference for U.S. food manufacturers exporting to China in anticipation of China’s registration process under Decree 145. This report provides an update to the unofficial translation of the standard.
