China: Introduction to Chongqing's Free Trade Port Area

The Chongqing Lianglu Cuntan Free Trade Port Area (CQFTPA) project was approved by the Chinese State Council on Nov 12, 2008. It is the first free trade port in inland China and the only Chinese port functioning as both a marine port and an airport. The first phase of this project was completed on May 11, 2010, the second phase was finished at the end of May, 2011, and the final phase is expected to be finished by 2015. The first two phases are fully operational. This report will give a brief introduction of the CQFTPA based on information released by the local Chinese government.
