China: PRC Announces Expedited Process for Seed Imports

On June 29, 2022, the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) released Announcement No. 53 of 2022 titled “Implementation of Conditional Retrieval Facilitation Measures for Imported Seed.” The announcement allows qualified importers to retrieve seeds at Customs for storing in approved facilities prior to the official release of quarantine laboratory test results. The updated procedure, which enters into force July 5, 2022, is expected to increase the germination rate for imported seeds.
