China: PRC Issues Draft Measures on Intellectual Property Marks Including Geographical Indications
On June 7, 2022, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) issued the “Measures for the Administration and Protection of Collective Marks and Certification Marks (Draft for Comments)” (hereafter referred as the “Measures”) for public comments. The Measures address the registration, management, and enforcement of collective and certification marks, including requirements for applying geographical indications (GIs) as collective marks and certification marks. In addition to the Measures, CNIPA also published “Amendment Explanation of the Measures for the Administration and Protection of Collective Marks and Certification Marks (Draft for Comments)” and an “Amendment Comparison Chart of the Measures for the Administration and Protection of Collective Marks and Certification Marks (Draft for Comments).” The deadline for submitting comments is July 21, 2022.
