Costa Rica: Agricultural Biotechnology Annual
Link to report:
Production of genetically engineered products (primarily cotton for seed and pink pineapples) is expected to increase in 2025 as new cotton events are expected to be approved by the National Technical Biosafety Commission. Applications for field trials of bananas resistant to sigatoka are expected to enter the regulatory process later this year, or at the beginning of next year. The new regulations approved in November 2023 are expected to continue to facilitate new research, development, and commercial production of genetically engineered products.
