From May 16-20, 2019, FAS Santo Domingo accompanied a delegation of 36 Dominican and Jamaican buyers and representatives to attend the National Restaurant Association (NRA) show in Chicago, Illinois. The buyers learned about new trends and had commercial discussions with U.S. suppliers in the following categories: beef, pork, poultry, dairy (cheeses), non-alcoholic beverages, and organic products. While the majority of the buyers are still in the negotiation phase, one food service buyer reported purchases of Asian-style ingredients valued at $25,000 and potential purchases of salmon, tuna, and chicken breast fillets for up to $200,000.
