Ecuador: Food Processing Ingredients

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

Ecuador’s food processing industry is a key player within the country’s manufacturing sector, accounting for about 45 percent of the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the country’s gross domestic product. The food processing sector in 2013 accounted for about one-third of Ecuador’s estimated $25 billion export earnings. FAS Quito recommends that an effective sales strategy include targeting Ecuador’s technically-sophisticated food manufacturers who offer diversified product lines to consumers. These firms will be better positioned to import U.S. artificial flavorings, colorants, preservatives, and spices. U.S. food ingredients, especially seasonings used in the manufacture of pre-cooked and easy-to-prepare meals, have good prospects.
