Estonia: Livestock and Products Report
Estonian Swine inventories are expected to decrease by 15 percent in 2016 due to low levels of farmgate prices for swine, ASF outbreak, and introduction of the Russian import ban in 2014. Production of pork in 2016 is expected to remain at the previous year’s level as a result of continuing reduction of swine inventories. Cattle inventories are expected to remain stable in 2016 because of improvement in the dairy market and stable prices for calves destined for export. Production of beef is expected to decline in 2016 due to reduced slaughter.
