EU-28: European Commission Authorizes Ten Genetically Modified Organisms

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

On July 26, 2019, the Commission authorized nine genetically modified products for food and feed uses and one as ornamental cut flower. All of these events had been waiting for final approval by the European Commission, after having gone through the EU’s comprehensive authorization procedure for genetically modified organisms (GMOs), some even since 2011. The outgoing Commission appeared to be clearing the decks before the summer break and before the new Commission takes office on November 1, 2019.
