European Union: Commission Publishes Roadmap for the Revision of the EU Rules on Food Contact Materials

On December 18, 2020, the European Commission published a roadmap outlining its intention to review the EU rules for food contact materials. Food contact materials (‘FCMs’) include food packaging, everyday household items such as kitchen- and table-ware as well as machinery and surfaces used in food manufacturing, preparation, storage, transport, and distribution. This initiative aims to modernize the rules. A comment period is currently open for stakeholders until January 29, 2021.
