France: Agricultural Biotechnology Annual
Link to report:
While France has no commercial production or field trials of genetically engineered (GE) crops, the French livestock industry depends on imported GE feed, especially soybeans, rapeseed, and corn. The French scientific community and many farmers are generally supportive of new technology, however consumer attitudes remain primarily negative. Climate change and the rising costs of agricultural production are fueling discussions on the acceptability of New Breeding Techniques (NBTs).
