India: Compliance Timeline Extended on Tolerance Limits for Contaminants

On December 31, 2018, the Government of India’s (GOI) Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) extended the compliance due date on residue levels for various food contaminants. In its earlier July 20, 2018 notification, FSSAI provided a transition period of five months to food business operators to comply with the regulations, which ended January 1, 2019. However, the current notification extends the compliance deadline to April 1, 2019.
