The Government of India’s (GOI) Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) published a directive to implement its draft regulation relating to the deletion of the parameter ‘total soluble solid’ and its values for thermally processed fruit beverages, fruit drinks, fruit nectars and ready-to-serve fruit beverages. The directive has been issued in the interest of industry members who have formulated their products with reduced sugar but are unable to launch them merely because the final regulation is yet to be published.
