India: New FSSAI Directives for Certain Ingredients under Functional Foods

On June 29, 2018, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a notice that disallowed the use of several ingredients, listed in Appendix-1, that are currently under review by FSSAI. On August 24, 2018, FSSAI announced that it would allow products containing these ingredients manufactured before June 29, 2018, to remain available in the market. Products containing these ingredients that are manufactured after June 29, 2018, continue to be restricted, per the June 29 notification.
