India: Requirement of a Certificate of Non-Genetically Modified and GM-Free Status for Cranberry Bean Consignments
Since March 1, 2021, the Indian government’s Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has required a mandatory Non-Genetically Modified (GM) and GM-Free status certificate status for the 24 listed crops in its order. Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) are one of the listed crops. The North Dakota Department of Agriculture, as a recognized regional (state) government authority, has issued such a certificate for beans in the format prescribed by FSSAI.
