India: WTO Notified Plant Quarantine Ninth Amendment 2017

The Government of India (GOI) notified Draft Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) (Ninth Amendment) Order, 2017 to the WTO for comments on July 12 with the comment period closing on September 30. The Amendment revises the 2003 Plant Quarantine Order. The Amendment proposes changes to the phytosanitary conditions governing the import of certain plants and plant materials including wood and wood products and cashew for consumption. Some of the wood products include U.S. grown softwood species such as firwood, spruce, and douglas fir and hardwood species such as birchwood and willow.
