Indonesia: Agricultural Biotechnology Annual
Link to report:
This report updates the 2018 Agricultural Biotechnology Annual Report. The U.S. exported over $1.9 billion in genetically engineered (GE) products to Indonesia in 2018, including over $1 billion of soybeans. In August 2018, GE sugar cane completed biosafety assessments for food, feed, and environmental safety. Already having received variety release, the drought resistant sugar cane becomes the first GE crop to meet all defined regulatory requirements, though its unique status will likely prevent broader commercialization. In addition, two GE corn and one GE potato variety also completed biosafety assessment. However, commercialization of these events is still awaiting issuance of the GE crop monitoring regulation.
