Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) proposed revisions to Japan’s maximum residue levels for 9 agricultural chemicals (Fosthiazate, Mepanipyrim, Pyrifluquinazon, Tolclofos-methyl, Diaveridine, Glycalpyramide, Sulfathiazole, Tiopronin and Enramycin) for various agricultural commodities. MHLW also proposed to designate Nitarsone, Roxarsone, and Sodium nifurstyrenate as substances to be "not detected" in food. Furthermore, MHLW proposed to list smoke flavourings as a “substance having no potential to cause damage to human health”. U.S. parties can submit comments by September 2, 2022 on MHLW's proposals to PlantDivision@usda.gov for plant products and to TFAA.FAS.AnimalDivision@usda.gov for animal products.
