The Consumer Affairs Agency (CAA) of Japan proposed three sets of revisions. First, to Japan’s maximum residue levels for 16 agricultural chemicals (Cyflumetofen, Flometoquin, Pyribencarb, Quinofumelin, Fenitrothion, Sulfachlorpyridazine, Sulfadiazine, Sulfadimethoxine, Sulfadimidine, Sulfadoxine, Sulfamethoxazole, Sulfamonomethoxine, Sulfamoyldapsone, Sulfisozole, Tylosin, and Sulfaquinoxaline) for various agricultural commodities. Second, the CAA proposed to designate the aqueous extract from the germinated seeds of sweet Lupinus albus, known as BLAD, as an exempt substance from having to establish an MRL. Interested U.S. parties should submit their comments to PlantDivision@usda.gov for plant products, TFAA.FAS.AnimalDivision@usda.gov for animal products, and PPTRD@usda.gov for processed products by July 30, 2024.
Third, the CAA proposed revisions of the specifications and standards for apparatus, containers, and packaging. The CAA will notify the revisions to the WTO.
