Halal compliance, though not necessary for processed food, is advisable to meet Muslim dietary requirements. On June, 2017, the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) made it compulsory for poultry, beef, dairy and egg products to be halal certified. New manufacturing facilities are being built to meet domestic and export needs. Best U.S. prospects include dairy powders, dried and preserved fruits and vegetables, wheat, soybeans, beef, poultry, Pollock, lobsters and nuts.
