Peru: Peru’s Minister of Agriculture Appoints New INIA Director

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation’s Minister, Juan Manuel Benites, appointed Dr. Alberto Maurer on November 3, 2014, as the new Director of the National Institute for Agricultural Investigation (INIA). Dr. Maurer, an agronomist with ample experience in agricultural investigation, replaces outgoing Director Roberto Santos. Dr. Maurer is tasked with implementing the $180 million Inter-American Bank and World Bank funded modernization of INIA. The Foreign Agricultural Service has worked closely with INIA on a wide range of activities.
