Peru: U.S. Live Cattle Market Access in Peru

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

On July 15, 2015, Peru’s Chief Veterinary Officer in SENASA approved the Health Certificate for the import of U.S. live cattle into Peru. APHIS subsequently published the document on the USDA website. This market opening was the result of regulatory cooperation between SENASA and APHIS, supported by the U.S. Embassy in Lima and the offices of FAS and APHIS through their engagement with senior Government of Peru authorities. The Peruvian dairy industry has strong demand for U.S. dairy cows in the near future to meet milk production needs.
