Poland: First Large 2020 ASF Outbreak Hits Commercial Farm Near German Border
On March 23, 2020, Poland’s Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) officially notified an African swine fever (ASF) outbreak on a 23,746-head pig farm in the Lubuskie Province in western Poland. The affected farm is located within the ASF restricted zone, approximately 60 kilometers from the German border. Veterinary authorities implemented protection and surveillance procedures to contain the outbreak. This outbreak marks Poland’s first commercial ASF outbreak in 2020.
