Poland: Polish CVO Confirms Atypical BSE Detection
On February 5, 2019, the Polish Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) confirmed an atypical case (type L) of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in a cow located near the village of Mirsk, Lwowek in southwestern Poland. The BSE-positive cow was born in 2007 and was euthanized due to leg injuries. The carcass was rendered and no meat from the animal entered into the human food chain. The CVO informed the European Commission and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) about the occurrence of atypical BSE case in Poland.
