Russia: Draft SPS Measure on Import Permits Notified to WTO

On April 18, 2016, Russia notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of draft amendments to the Russian regulation on the issuance of import, export, and transit permits for goods that are under veterinary control via G/SPS/N/RUS/121. According to the notification, the amendments specify the list of products that should be accompanied by an import or export permit while importing to or exporting form Russia. The 60-day public comment period for the draft will close on June 17, 2016. Interested U.S. parties are encouraged to share their comments and/or concerns with USDA’s enquiry point (us.spsenquirypoint@fas.usda.gov). For potential inclusion in the U.S. official position, please send your comments by June 3, 2016.
