Russia: Russian Beer Market Update

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

During the first 11 months of 2015, Russian brewers produced 659.5 million deciliters of beer - 7.3 percent less compared to the same period in 2014. Many of the largest beer market players have cut excess capacity due to the slowing economy, excessive changes in industry regulations, high excise taxes, advertising restrictions and a ban on beer sale at kiosks. However, demand for new styles of foreign and craft beers has grown in recent years with craft beer pubs appearing in many of Russia’s largest cities.
