Saudi Arabia: Barley Trade Quarterly

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has concluded its barley purchases for marketing year (MY) 2017/18. It expects to import 8 million MT of barley this MY. Post projects that Saudi barley imports will decline by about 6 percent to 7.5 million MT in MY2018/19, but consumption may be further reduced by policy decisions on forage production. The United States has not exported barley to Saudi Arabia since MY2012/13, when U.S. producers shipped 58,696 MT. Ukraine and Russia continue to dominate the Saudi barley market.
