Saudi Arabia: Barley Trade Quarterly

So far this marketing year, the Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has issued two barley import tenders to import a total of 3.24 million MT of barley for arrivals from July to October 2018, an increase of about 6 percent compared to the total barley imported in the same period last year. Supplying countries data show that Saudi Arabia’s barley imports in the first eleven months of MY2017/18 (Jul 2017-May 2018) totaled about 7.4 million MT, down by about 6 percent compared to the same period in MY2016/17. Total Saudi barley imports for the current marketing year are estimated at 8 million MT, similar to the total imported in MY2017/18.
