The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka’s (Sri Lanka) Ministry of Health extended the implementation effective date of the Food (Color Coding for Sugar Levels-Liquids) Regulations (2022) from January 1, 2024 to January 1, 2025.
On March 14, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) officially noted the lifting of restrictions on sourcing foreign exchange to import dairy products. Previously, only six designated companies could source foreign exchange from the government to import dairy products.

India: Wine Labeling Update 2024 - Addendum

This GAIN-INDIA report is an addendum to FAS India's (New Delhi, Mumbai) (Post) GAIN-INDIA | IN2024-0012 | India’s Wine Product Labeling Requirements – Update 2024. Post sought out additional regulatory review, and has obtained a revised confirmation from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) that its Food Safety and Standards (Labeling and Display) Regulations now do not require an expiry date for wine products.
The People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) reorganized and restructured its food safety regulatory system in 2018-2019, substantially changing registration procedures and import requirements applicable to U.S. exports of feed and feed additives.

Canada: Canada Reviews Its Food Safety Legislation

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) opened public consultations on the scheduled five-year review of the Safe Food for Canadians Act (SFCA).
At the beginning of each year, the Turkish Ministry of Trade (MoT) publishes the tariff schedule for all commodities including agricultural products for the upcoming year. Depending on market conditions, the MoT may adjust tariff rates during the year for selected imports of agricultural and other products.
Health Canada is proposing a policy revision for foods derived from somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), cattle and swine and their progeny.

China: 47 National Food Safety Standards Released

On March 12, 2024, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) National Health Commission (NHC) and State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) jointly published an Announcement on releasing 47 new or updated National Food Safety Standards (known as Guo Jia Biao Zhun, or GB Standards) and 6 amendments sheets.
On February 22, 2024, India’s Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying/Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, issued Office Memorandum File No. L-110109(3)/1/2016-Trade (E-2625) outlining the parameters for premium frozen duck meat for import into India.
