This report is an October 2021 update to the FAS Seoul Grain and Feed Annual released on March 31 and the Grain and Feed Update from June 27.

After last season’s second consecutive bumper corn crop, the positive outlook for the South African grain industry will continue in the 2021/22 MY as evidenced by a 30 percent upsurge in tractor sales and the intention of commercial producers to maintain a corn area of 2.7 million hectares.

Grain and feed news is positive this year in Venezuela. The forecast for winter crops is favorable due to sufficient rainfall resulting in above average yields for corn and rice.

Post forecasts 2021/22 corn harvest at a record 118 million metric tons (MMT), up nearly 40 percent on the disappointing 2020/21 harvest estimated at 85 MMT.

FAS China’s marketing year (MY) 2021/22 corn import forecast is 20 million metric tons (MMT) while its estimate for corn imports in MY 2020/21 is raised to 30 MMT.
