Turkey’s citrus production for MY 2021/22 is forecasted up year-over-year in large part due to improved weather conditions compared to the previous year’s hot weather. While production is up, growers are seeing profit margins shrink as input costs, such as fuel and fertilizer, increase at a faster clip than farm gate prices.
Venezuelan seafood production totaled 241,000 MT in 2021, growing by 16 percent compared to 2020. Seafood products are Venezuela’s largest agricultural export, accounting for more than 54 percent of the total value of agricultural exports in 2021.
For marketing year (MY) 2021/22, Post revises its estimates for fresh lemon production to 1.90 million metric tons (MMT), up by 15 percent, due to favorable weather conditions. The United States exports bone-in chicken meat to South Africa under a Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) arrangement, which was set at 71,290 tons to be imported quarterly for the April 2021 - March 2022 quota year. The US bone-in chicken quota for the year 2021/2022 was filled at 84 percent, a 10 percent drop from the previous quota year.

India’s position as a structural surplus sugar producer and gradual utilization of alternative feedstocks will drive supply, while a 35 percent increase in offtakes by parastatal oil marketing companies for ethanol blending will drive demand.
Thailand doubled its target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in COP26. The Thai government has yet to finalize the new biofuel consumption targets. Biofuel consumption in 2021 and 2022 is still far below current targets due to the prolonged outbreak of COVID-19 and the slow economic recovery after the pandemic caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
