Senegal: Impact of COVID 19 on Food Prices

Since 2020, several west African countries such as Senegal, Mali, Gambia, Guinea, and Burkina Faso have experienced food price increases. These price increases have followed the global trend due to principally higher freight costs and the disruption of the food supply chain.
On March 4, 2022, the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) made 42 additions to the list of products subject to Decree 248. American exporters are encouraged to pay attention to the additions which include meat, seafood, and certain beverages.

Pakistan: Sugar Annual

Due to slight increases in area and sugarcane yields, sugar production in 2022/23 is forecast to reach 7.2 million metric tons (MMT), a marginal increase over the good 2021/22 crop. Sugar consumption for 2022/23 is forecast at 6.1 MMT, which would be a 3.3 percent increase, reflecting population growth and demand from the expanding food processing sector.

Saudi Arabia: Food Processing Ingredients

Saudi Arabia is the largest economy in the Arab world and home to a growing food manufacturing and processing sector. Total investments in the sector are projected to reach $70 billion in 2030, an increase of approximately 59 percent over total investments in 2016.
In the last couple weeks, Turkey has imposed temporary export bans on select agricultural products to stabilize local market conditions and keep prices from running higher.
On February 3, 2022, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued directive SS-T017/1/2022-Standard-FSSAI [E4478]. The directive instructs food business operators to provide per serve percentage contributions for recommended dietary allowances (RDA) on the product label.

Chile: Chile Facilitates Imports of US Beer

On February 22, 2022, the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture's Livestock and Agricultural Service modified the testing requirement for U.S. beer shipments to Chile. Beer from the United States will no longer need to be tested upon arrival to Chile.
On December 10, 2021, Korea released its 2022 Market Access Quota (MAQ) updates, which cover a variety of agricultural commodities ranging from mung bean, red bean, soybeans to various feed ingredients. These MAQs are used to minimize local price fluctuations resulting from domestic supply shortages.
