This report outlines specific requirements for food and agricultural products to be imported into Turkey and was prepared by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service’s Office of Agricultural Affairs in Ankara, Turkey for U.S. exporters of food and agricultural products.

This 2022 Food and Agriculture Import Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) Export Certificate Report for Turkey lists the major export certificates and other requirements expected by the Turkish government for food and agricultural products imports to Turkey.

In June 2022, Poland reported four new outbreaks of African Swine Fever (ASF) on hog farms, The outbreaks were located in ASF restricted areas that have a high concentration of ASF infections in wild boars. Additional outbreaks on farms are expected as the disease is more prevalent in the summer.

For MY2022/23, initially good crop prospects after the abundant rains in April were negated by above average temperatures registered in May and June. Italy’s food retail sales reached $167.8 billion in 2021, a 2.9 percent increase compared to 2020 in spite of the lingering COVID-19 pandemic. Increased sales were registered at discount stores (+6.0 percent), hypermarkets (+3.4 percent), supermarkets (+3.3 percent), grocery retailers (+1.2 percent), and convenience stores (+1.2 percent).

After more than 100 days of the Russian-Ukrainian war, wheat prices have surged almost 60 percent globally, hitting their highest levels in 14 years. Egypt, similar to the rest of the world, has been affected by the impacts of this war, especially since 82 percent of its wheat imports over the last five years originated in Russia and Ukraine.

On June 10, 2022, the Dutch Minister for Nitrogen and Nature Policy, Ms. Christianne van der Wal, presented a plan laying out the objectives for Dutch nitrogen greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions. The plan included both national and area-specific objectives .

Turkey’s citrus production for MY 2021/22 is forecasted up year-over-year in large part due to improved weather conditions compared to the previous year’s hot weather. While production is up, growers are seeing profit margins shrink as input costs, such as fuel and fertilizer, increase at a faster clip than farm gate prices.

On April 20, the Government of Serbia (GoS) lifted its prohibition on the export of wheat, corn, flour, and refined sunflower oil. In its place, introduced monthly export quotas. On April 30, the GoS increased export quotas on wheat and wheat flour.

In 2021, according to Romania’s National Institute of Statistics (NIS), Romania imported $182 million of U.S. food and agricultural products, up 2.7 percent compared to 2020. According to the U.S. Census Bureau's bulk, intermediate, and consumer-oriented (BICO), U.S. suppliers shipped $84 million of U.S. food and agricultural products to Romania in 2021.
