  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

In March 2015, Ag Taipei received notice from local animal health authorities, Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ), that all incoming U.S. poultry product USDA Export Certificates did not accurately list highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) affected states, out of compliance with agreed upon language. FAS/AgTaipei staff worked closely with importers, exporters, custom brokers, and U.S. and Taiwan authorities to release the detained shipments. In only two weeks, FAS/Taipei helped release 249 U.S. poultry meat and meat product containers, valued at US$8.48 million.
