MY2016/17 cotton imports are forecast to increase only slightly from the downturn in MY2013/14. Spinners will likely limit their cotton purchases due to large carryover inventories of cotton yarn. Meanwhile, in MY2015/16 cotton imports will likely continue to decline to around 1.4 million bales due to a reduction in cotton yarn sales in the domestic and export markets.
