MY2018/19 cotton imports are forecast to increase slightly despite closure of several spinning mills in MY2017/18. Spinning mills are also likely to run down inventories of cotton yarn by the first half of MY2018/19. Import demand for U.S. cotton is expected to remain strong as large-scale spinning mills maintain their competitive edge in producing fine-count yarn.
