MY2015/16 rice production is revised down to 18 million metric tons, down 7 percent from MY2014/15 due to ongoing water supplies shortages in irrigated areas. Rice exports are also revised to 10 million metric tons due to price competition from Vietnam.

Export prices of white and parboiled rice rose one percent from the previous week as exporters reportedly continued to secure the rice supplies to fulfill contract shipments.
