The United States is one of the world’s leading cranberry producers and exporters. In fiscal year (FY) 2024, the United States exported $351.0 million of cranberries and related products, performing 2 percent higher than the 5-year average (FY 2019 through FY 2023). These include fresh cranberries, processed cranberries, and cranberry juice. Cranberries are well known for their versatility and health benefits, making them a popular ingredient in appetizers, entrees, beverages and cocktails, desserts, and sauces. This broad appeal has driven demand across various consumer segments.
Top markets for U.S. cranberries are the European Union, Mexico, Canada, and China. U.S. cranberry producers, especially in Wisconsin and Massachusetts, continue to see growth potential in export markets. A Wisconsin-based producer reported that exports contributed between 20 to 25 percent of the company’s total annual sales (link). Additionally, the U.S. cranberry industry has utilized a combination of industry and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service market development funds to conduct export promotion activities all over the world, including India and Brazil.
