During the first eight months of Marketing Year (MY) 2016/17 (Calendar Year [CY] 2017), Brazil became the leading soybean exporter to Vietnam, replacing the United States due to competitive prices. Post estimates Vietnam’s total soybean imports in CY 2017 and CY 2018 at 1.65 million metric tons (MMT) and 1.75 MMT respectively, due to increasing demand in the animal and aquaculture feed and food industries. Post retains its estimates for total soybean meal (SBM) imports at 5.15 MMT for MY 2016/17 and 5.2 MMT for MY 2017/18 due to continued strong demand in the feed sector.
